Samsung is about to introduce world’s largest capacity SSD of about 30.72TB capacity into 2.5-inch form. Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) drive of Samsung, offers 2,100MB/s and 1,700 MB/s speed for reading and writing which is three-times faster in comparison with average SATA SSD. The company is offering about five-years of warranty on this device.

Round two years ago Samsung launched the largest capacity drive of about 15.36TB capacity of SSD. Currently, the company announced to launch the drive with twice capacity and performance in 2.5-inch frame. The company said that PM1643 drive of 30.72 TB capacity is ready to launch which is specially designed for enterprise storage with the highest speed.

Now, it is able to produce on large scale in this frame and is expected from Samsung to announce devices with a size of 15.36TB, 7.68TB, 3.84TB, 1.92TB, 960GB and 800GB respectively. Ultimately, this trend will help to increase memory size in PCs the chips that would help to fit in in devices like phone and laptops. It will take some time to introduce this or more than this capacity in laptops or phones. However, it will reduce prices of high-end devices such as trailblazers for sure.

Additionally, PM1643 drive capacity and extreme features such as high speed up to 400,000 IOPS and 50,000 IOPS for reading and write. In addition, the company is offering a new control architecture on this high storage SSD in a single package, that helps to integrate nine controllers from previous high-capacity SSD range. Likewise, this drive has Through Silicon Via (TSV) technology that interconnect 8Gb DDR4 chips, creating 10 packages of 4GB TSV DRAM – which totals of 40GB DRAM. This is happening for the first time when SSD device been included a TSV.

Jaesoo Han, Vice President of Memory Sales and Marketing Team, in Samsung Electronics, said in a statement that they are ready to dominate the enterprise storage market with the launch of this 30.72TB SSD, and opening up new limits for ultra-high capacity storage systems globally.
